Shanann Watts Was Planning a Gender Reveal Days Before Husband Chris Watts Murdered Her
Shanann Watts was pregnant with her third child when husband Christopher Watts brutally murdered her and their two daughters in 2018.
According to a new report by the Daily Mail, the expectant mother was planning a gender reveal party for 50 guests when her husband told her he did not want a third child. While the event was canceled, it was originally scheduled for August 19, 2018, six days after she was murdered.
The 34-year-old spent nearly $1000 on desserts and decorations for the celebration, the Daily Mail reported on Thursday, May 14. However, instead of a joyous occasion, Shanann asked for a divorce.
“Chris told me last night he’s scared to death about this third baby and he’s happy with just Bella and Celeste and doesn’t want another baby,” she messaged a friend on August 7, according to the outlet. “He said we’re not compatible anymore. He refused to hug me after he said he will try to ‘work it out.’”
“I haven’t slept most of the week,” she added, per Daily Mail. “My eyes burn from crying so much. I canceled [the] gender reveal.”
Shanann was 15 weeks pregnant with a baby boy, whom they planned to name Nico.
“This baby in my belly deserves his full love either way,” she wrote in another text message.
Chris — who later admitted to having an affair with a woman named Nichol Kessinger — confessed to killing Shanann and their daughters, Bella and Celeste. He was sentenced to five life terms without the possibility of parole.
