The Children’s Book Inspired by Selena Quintanilla’s Life Story Is Here!

Selena Quintanilla-Perez’s legacy lives on! It’s been more than 20 years since the legendary Tejano singer was shot and killed, but people are still captivated by her story. Now, children will be able to learn about her life in a new bilingual children’s book, released on March 13! You can pick one up right here on Amazon. Last year, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce picked Selena to be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and on Nov. 3, Selena’s sister Suzette Quintanilla accepted the star on her behalf. Prior to the ceremony, Selena’s Official Instagram page posted a photo of Suzette helping to prepare the star. “What a moment! Suzette, sharing in the making of her sister’s star,” The caption read. “‘They don’t give this honor to everyone, so I’m beyond honored… to be able to participate in the making of it, priceless.'”

But there’s more, Selena fans. A posthumous star didn’t seem like quite enough to honor the singer with, so Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti has dubbed Nov. 3 “Selena Day” from now on!

“Since day one of Selena’s selection into the Walk of Fame, not a day went by that we were not asked by fans when Selena would get her star,” said Walk of Fame ceremony producer Ana Martinez in a statement. “This day has come and fans from around the world will rejoice in her well-deserved honor.” You can say that again!
