Scarlett Johansson Says Fiancé Colin Jost’s Proposal Was ‘Surprising’: ‘It Was a Very Special Moment’

Prince Charming! Scarlett Johansson got candid about how her fiancé, Colin Jost, proposed to her in May. “He did [do it in a romantic way], he killed it,” she gushed during an appearance on the Thursday, October 17, episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show. “It was a very James Bond situation. It was surprising. He’s got a lot behind that news desk he’s hiding.”

The 34-year-old continued to talk about all of the qualities the 37-year-old Saturday Night Live star has. “He is a cute guy. He is very charming and thoughtful and romantic,” she said. So, did the blonde beauty know that Colin was going to get down on one knee? “I was surprised. I mean, even if you kind of imagine what that moment is going to be like, it’s still a beautiful moment. It was very personal. It was a very special moment, and I think more than anything, when someone tells you they want to share the rest of their life with you, it’s a lovely, special thing.”

The talk show host, 61, continued to ask the Black Widow starlet when her upcoming nuptials would be. However, Scarlett explained that the couple doesn’t have a date picked out just yet. “I have to clear my schedule first,” she quipped.

The Hollywood A-listers met while they worked together on SNL in 2010. In March 2017, the New York native — who shares her daughter, Rose, 5, with her ex Romain Dauriac — appeared on the NBC show again, while they were both single at the time. Afterward, the pair stepped out in public in the Hamptons in July 2017, and since then, they have been inseparable.

While Scarlett has been married twice before, this is Colin’s first time walking down the aisle. The Harvard alum even joked about his fear of commitment during a stand-up routine at a charity event shortly before he popped the question. “I was so scared of marriage for so long because every time I talked to someone who just got married, or was about to get married, is like, ‘Oh my God, you got to do it … What could go wrong?” he said. “Then, you talk to someone who’s been married for five years, and they’re like, ‘Don’t rush into it … You have your whole life ahead of you. Don’t have kids. They’re the worst.”

Well, it seems like Colin changed his mind. We can’t wait for the wedding!
