A family basketball trip turned into a police matter for Marcellus Wiley.
TMZ reported on Sunday, June 5, that the former NFL Pro Bowler, 51, was arrested on a domestic battery charge on Saturday, July 4, as per Orange County, Florida, arrest records.
Per the outlet, his wife called authorities from a room at the World Marriott in Orlando, Florida, on Saturday afternoon, where the couple was staying with their three children and a few of their children’s friends for a basketball tournament. Annemarie reportedly asked officers to remove Marcellus because she was afraid of him, and the affidavit cited by TMZ alleged she claimed he had threatened to kill her.

As per NBC Sports, the documents further alleged that Marcellus put his hands on her the previous morning, standing over her and, in front of their 7-year-old daughter, “used one finger to sternly and intentionally poke her in the cheek.”
The Bravo star also allegedly told police she planned to divorce Marcellus and described prior unreported violence in the relationship.
Marcellus denied any physical altercation, per TMZ, telling officers he never touched Annemarie and was at the hotel to care for the children. He reportedly also showed police cordial text exchanges between him and his wife. Officers found probable cause based on Annemarie’s written statement, as there was no record of any visible injuries.
Marcellus did not stay behind bars long. He was released from custody at 8:43 p.m. ET on Sunday (one day after the arrest) after posting a $1,000 cash bond, NBC Sports confirmed on Monday, June 6.
Saturday’s arrest is unrelated to, but arrives amid, a mounting legal storm for the sportscaster — seven sexual assault accusations in all, four filed this past April, per Rolling Stone, and three dating to 2023.
However, he pushed back and defended himself, calling the accusations “false.”
“I’m going to continue to challenge all these false accusations,” Wiley said in a May 5 video.
According to Fox Sports, the 1997 second-round pick played for the Bills, Chargers, Cowboys, and Jaguars before joining ESPN and Fox Sports, where he appeared on NFL Live and SportsNation.
The arrest is not the family’s first brush with headlines.

Sources exclusively told In Touch in April 2024 that Annemarie was fired from RHOBH after a single season, reportedly because her support for Trump alienated castmates.
