TLC’s new series Polyfamily is set to follow two married couples — Alysia Rodgers and Tyler Rodgers and Taya Hartless and Sean Hartless — as they live under one roof in a “closed quad” relationship. Alysia, Tyler, Taya and Sean are raising five children together, but who are their kids? In Touch shares everything to know about the family ahead of the show’s premiere on April 29, 2025.
Polyfamily’s Alysia Rodgers and Tyler Rodgers Share 2 Kids
Alysia and Tyler have been married for 11 years. The couple already had two school-aged kids, Dillon and Reina, when they moved in with Sean and Taya in Oregon in 2020. Alysia admitted to Today.com that she initially had some “preconceived notions” about how it would feel to see her children gain two more parents, but it turned out better than expected.
“When I see that my kids are happy, that someone else can make them happy too, that makes me happy,” she said. “Seeing them have love for another parental figure doesn’t take anything away from me.”
The Fathers of Polyfamily’s 3 Youngest Kids Are Unknown
After the family moved in together, they welcomed three more children — sons Barrett, Carver and Quentin. While Alysia gave birth to one of their sons and Taya gave birth to two of the boys, they don’t know which of the three younger children was fathered by Sean or Tyler.
“Since the guys switch rooms every night, we don’t know who the fathers of the younger boys are,” Taya said in the trailer. She added that they have no plans to find out the identities of the kids’ biological fathers because it could “cause a lot of hurt.”
Instead, the kids have come to know Alysia as “Mom,” Tyler as “Dad,” Taya as “Mama” and Sean as “Daddy.”

Polyfamily’s Alysia, Tyler, Sean and Taya Discuss Raising Their Kids Together
The reality stars revealed to Today.com that Sean is a stay-at-home dad, while Taya works part-time. Meanwhile, both Alysia and Tyler work full-time. However, each of the parents plays a role in raising the kids.
“With five kids, we’ve got to be all hands on deck,” Taya said.
Alysia added, “We all four have different personal experiences in life. Being able to bring all four of those into the equation when it comes to raising our kids together honestly is a huge advantage.”
Taya continued, “I can’t imagine not having another mom figure around to be able to help with that stuff.” However, she added, “It’s a constant compromise, it’s a constant communication. Ultimately, we will have the same end goal, right? It’s happy, healthy children. So if we have a hard time deciding on something, we oftentimes will lean back into that, which is a reminder that we’re all on the same team here.”
Alysia and Taya also said they hope to show viewers that they’re a normal family.
“We talk about it taking a village to raise a family, but people oftentimes are quite judgmental about what that village looks like,” Alysia explained, adding that she hopes Polyfamily helps people “understand something that looks different than what you have in your own life.”
Taya shared, “For me, it’s just about spreading education that polyamory is valid. Polyamory exists. It’s out there, and it can be really good for some people. And not just the people in the relationship — for their kids as well. Between the checks and balances and the support system and always having a safe adult around, I genuinely will always feel like polyamory is something that our kids are very lucky to have in their lives.”
