The Olympic figure skater, 20, turned heads in a dramatic goth-glam ensemble that put her eye-catching back tattoo on full display as she walked the red carpet at the annual awards show on Monday, July 13.
In photos obtained by InTouch, Liu followed up her edgy appearance at the American Music Awards in May by rocking a plunging black halter gown with a draped bodice and short train. The bold look was complemented by her lower-back tattoo, which she showed off while on the red carpet. Keeping with the theme, Liu accessorized the look with a black cross choker featuring a draped chain that cascaded down her back, ending in a second cross pendant.
The gold medalist, who is no stranger to sporting a bold look, styled her signature striped hair in an elegant updo, leaving a few face-framing strands loose. She kept her makeup soft and natural, opting for rosy blush and a nude lip.

Liu, who won two gold medals at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, was also a winner Monday night, taking home the award for Best Breakthrough Athlete at the annual ceremony hosted by Saturday Night Live star Marcello Hernández.
She beat out San Jose Sharks star Macklin Celebrini, New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye and Las Vegas Raiders rookie quarterback Fernando Mendoza for the honor, which came after Liu’s historic gold medal win at the 2026 Winter Games catapulted her into the spotlight.

Her victory in the women’s singles event made her the first American woman in 24 years to win individual Olympic figure skating gold. It also marked a major comeback for the young figure skater after retiring following the Beijing Games in 2022, with Liu also helping Team USA secure a gold medal in the team event.
And it looks like she’s not done yet, with Liu gearing up to hit the ice once again in 2030, when the Winter Olympics makes its way to the French Alps.
“I have no plans to leave yet,” Liu told NBC back in February, ahead of the 2026 Winter Games’ closing ceremony. “I can’t imagine not skating next year.”
