Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi Admits She Once Pretended To Be Lance Bass in AOL Chat Rooms
‘Snooki’ reveals she impersonated Lance Bass in AOL chatrooms at 1 a.m., sparking millennial nostalgia for the wild west days of early internet chat rooms.
Long before catfishing became a household term, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi says she was pulling harmless pranks in AOL chat rooms and convincing strangers she was none other than LanceBass.
During a recent episode of her podcast, It’s Happening With Snooki & Joey, the Jersey Shore alum looked back on her early internet antics, admitting she and a friend would log on in the middle of the night pretending to be the former NSYNC singer.
“Me and my friend used to pretend to be Lance Bass in AOL chatrooms at 1 a.m.,” Snooki recalled. “Literally everyone [believed us]. They were sending us full love letters.”
The confession quickly caught fans’ attention online, with many millennials reminiscing about the wild west days of AOL and Yahoo chat rooms, when anonymous screen names and celebrity impersonations were surprisingly common.
On Instagram, commenters joked that they “probably talked to Snooki as Lance Bass in a chatroom.” Others joked those were “the good old days” of the internet.

“Older millennials lived the BEST lives!!!!” another said. “We’re truly one of a kind.”
The hilarious story is just the latest nostalgic moment from Snooki, who has never shied away from sharing embarrassing or outrageous memories from her younger years.
These days, the reality star has been balancing her podcast with Joey Camasta, her ongoing run on Jersey Shore: Family Vacation and life as a mom of three. She also recently relaunched It’s Happening With Snooki & Joey after taking time away from the show.
While Bass has yet to respond to the revelation, it’s safe to say there were at least a few AOL users who unknowingly poured their hearts out to someone who wasn’t actually the pop star after all.
