Was juggling a relationship and his law enforcement duties just too much for him? Miranda Lambert’s new husband, Brendan McLoughlin, has taken a leave of absence from his position as a police officer in the Big Apple, Radar Online reported on July 19. The New York Police Department’s Public Information Office confirmed to the outlet that Miranda’s spouse is taking a break from his role — at least for now.

“Police Officer Brendan McLoughlin is on an authorized leave of absence,” the police department revealed Friday. NYPD officials are not legally allowed to report why he decided to leave, but the department said members take leaves “for various reasons, many of which are personal in nature.” Do you think that’s the case with Brendan, 28?

Miranda, 35, shocked the world when she revealed to her Instagram fans and followers that she married her husband in a secret wedding ceremony not long after Valentine’s Day. “I wanted to share some news,” she shared on February 16. “I met the love of my life. And we got hitched! My heart is full. Thank you Brendan Mcloughlin for loving me for … me. ❤️ #theone.”

Since then, the two have been spotted out and about several times. In early June, the duo seemed to be in great spirits at the 2019 Billboard Country Power Players event in Nashville, Tennessee. They were also seen goofing off in New York City on July 8.

The couple has apparently moved down south now that they’re wed, but Brendan doesn’t seem to mind too much. “He loves Tennessee and wouldn’t move back to New York because he’s so happy there,” a source exclusively told In Touch in early July. “He loves the Tennessee lifestyle.”

Brendan may have grown up in the big city, but he now “only visits to see his family and friends,” the insider continued. “His friends are understanding but joke with him about how he ‘left them’ for her because he doesn’t come home often to see them. He’s clearly torn between his New York friends and his Tennessee lifestyle.” Well, at least his job won’t be tearing him away from his wife for the time being!
