The Enola Holmes 3 star sat down with Josh Horowitz at the 92nd Street Y on Wednesday, June 24, for a conversation that will air on Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast on Monday, June 29, according to aPeoplereport published Thursday, June 25.
When asked whether she and Cruise, 63, are truly close, Brown didn’t hesitate. “He’s a dear friend,” she said, per the report. “He’s a wonderful man and I’m very lucky to call him my friend.”

According to the outlet, she went on to joke about the Top Gun star‘s daredevil tendencies. Cruise famously became a licensed helicopter pilot while training for 2018’s Mission: Impossible — Fallout. “Tom does the craziest stuff. I think he’s trying to get me to somehow fly a plane at some point,” Brown, 22, said, before revealing she’s “flown his helicopter before.”
“I was like, ‘This is the last time I ever fly any of his equipment,’ ” she added, calling it a “thrilling experience” to perform her own stunts on-screen.
“I really want young girls to think they can, you know? You’ll always hear an older actor say, ‘Don’t do your own stunts,’ and I get that. … if you get a really great stunt coordinator and you learn how to land and you learn the whole technique of it, we as actors should know how to do certain things,” Brown said, per the report.
She added, “I try to do 90 percent and the 10 percent is probably, you know, in my contract that I’m not allowed, even though I beg.”
Brown previously discussed her stunt work on The Drew Barrymore Show, recalling how filming her 2024 action film Damsel made her feel like the female version of Cruise, per the report. “I did all my own stunts from start to finish,” she said, adding, “I’m really scared about doing my own stunts. Stunts are scary. … You’re just like, ‘I’m not physically trained to do this.'”
