Lindsay Shookus and Ben Affleck’s Relationship Is ‘Less Complicated’ the Second Time Around
Second time is the charm! After Lindsay Shookus and Ben Affleck decided to call it quits in August 2018, the duo are now back together and better than ever, a source revealed to Life & Style magazine.
“Now that Ben’s sober and single, things are less complicated,” the source dished to the publication. “Sure, they still have to deal with living far apart, but it’s a small hurdle compared to what they’ve already faced.”
The Oscar winner is not ashamed of his past troubles, either. If anything, it seems like he’s really come out on top. “It doesn’t really bother me to talk about alcoholism and being an alcoholic,” he told Hoda Kotb on the Today show on March 4. “It’s part of my life, it’s something that I deal with. It doesn’t have to subsume my whole identity and be everything but it’s something you have to work at. I feel like I had a problem and really wanted to address it.”
While the dad-of-three, 46, was in rehab for alcohol addiction in August 2018, the blonde beauty, 38, kept in touch with her ex. “[Lindsay] still reaches out to check on how he’s doing,” a source told In Touch at the time. “She and Ben parted as friends, it wasn’t this nasty breakup that some have said. He needed to get his life in order, by that I mean get sober.”
It’s no surprise the couple rekindled their romance since they were spotted having dinner at Katuya in Brentwood, California, on February 23. Earlier that same day, they grabbed coffee at Starbucks together.
“They just couldn’t ignore the feelings they have for one another,” the insider said. “All their friends are rooting for them.”
Meanwhile, it seems like Lindsay is a bright light in the filmmaker’s life. “Lindsay makes Ben happy and is a positive influence on him,” the insider noted.
