They’re not dating. It turns out, they’re just really good actors. Lady Gaga sat down for her first interview since her over-the-top romantic performance of “Shallow” at the Oscars with Bradley Cooper. Rumors have been sizzling that these two are more than just friends. The singer is here to say that she’s glad they stirred up emotions because that’s exactly what they intended to do.

“First of all, social media, quite frankly, is the toilet of the Internet and what it has done to pop culture is abysmal,” the newly-minted Oscar winner told Jimmy Kimmel. “People saw love and guess what? That’s what we wanted you to see!”

She reminded fans that everything about the performance screamed passion and they wanted to convey that. “This is a love song … The movie A Star Is Born is a love story. We worked so hard. We worked all week on that performance.” It definitely paid off!

Gaga even divulged that the sparks between them were a piece of the live show that they specifically worked on. “From a performance perspective, it was so important to both of us that we were connected the entire time … I mean, when you’re singing love songs that’s what you want people to feel.”

The songstress kept the rumors light and playful when she said, “I’m an artist. I guess we did a good job. And … fooled you!”

Their rendition of “Shallow” was unforgettable and the Joanne artist handed most of the credit over to her costar. “You know, I never relinquish control over a live stage performance … I mean, I’ve done a million of them.” However, the songbird understood that the actor not only directed the film but also had creative control over all of the musical moments in the film. She explained, “So, I knew he had the vision for how it should go.” All the little nuances you noticed during the production, like the lighting and the way the piano was set up, came from the director. “Everything that you saw … that was all him,” Gaga gushed while adding, “It was just great.”
