Lady Martha Sitwell is mourning the loss of her much-loved bird, Hecate.

In a tear-filled video shared to Instagram on Thursday, the Ladies of London: The New Reign star revealed that the magpie had drowned in a tub Sitwell had left outside.

“I have the worst news to share with you all,” Sitwell began, wiping away her tears. “Hecate died yesterday. She drowned. And she was normally so cautious about water.”

The London socialite said she’s unsure why the beloved pet went into the tub, but noted that it was right next to Hecate’s bath.

“There was a tub I left outside that was too deep,” the Bravo star continued between bated breaths. “It was right next to her bath. I don’t understand why she went in it. And it was a momentary lapse of concentration, and I am so sorry. When I couldn’t find her yesterday morning, the last place I thought to look was in the tub.”

Sitwell reiterated how cautious Hecate was around water, calling the bird “clever.”

“I am so sorry,” Sitwell said again. “I am so sorry everybody, I know you loved her as much as I did, and I’m completely shattered. I’m so sorry. Please bear with me.”

Sitwell’s post was met with lots of love and support in the comments, including from Bravo exec Andy Cohen who wrote, “I am so sorry.” Sitwell’s castmate, Lottie Kane, also commented, writing, “You poor thing I’m so sorry, you were such a good mummy to her ❤️❤️.”

Fans were introduced to Sitwell and her magpie – who largely became a character of her own – on Bravo’s Ladies of London reboot, which aired on the network in March nine years after the original series ended in 2017. In addition to Sitwell and Kane, the cast of London locals and American expats included Lady Emma Thynn, Mark-Francis Vandelli, Missè Beqiri, Kimi Murdoch, Myka Meier and Margo Stilley.

Despite a positive reception from fans and early critical acclaim, Ladies of London: The New Reign has been put on pause at Bravo, with Hayu Original, The Real Housewives of London, starring Ladies of London OG, Juliet Angus, being promoted to the network instead.
