Gone too soon. Country singer Kylie Rae Harris has tragically passed away at the young age of 30 on Wednesday, September 4, after being involved in a three-vehicle car crash that took place in New Mexico. One of the other people involved in the accident — a 16-year-old — also sadly died, while the third driver reportedly escaped with no injuries.

“We are heartbroken to confirm that Kylie Rae Harris passed away in a car accident last night,” the singer’s publicist said in a statement to Billboard. “We have no further details to share, and ask for privacy for her family at this time. Everyone that knew Kylie knew how much she loved her family and, beyond that, how much she loved music.”

“The best tribute to her unmatched enthusiasm for both is to spread as much love as you can today, and listen to music that fully inspires you,” Harris’ publicist continued.

Harris last revealed that she was on her way to Taos, New Mexico, to perform at the Big Barn Dance music festival. The songstress took to Instagram Stories with an update about her trip on September 4, revealing how much sentimental value this event holds for her. She recalled all of the times she visited Taos with her loved ones that are no longer with her. In the heartfelt video she posted, Harris mourned her father’s death.

“I spent the last 20 years of my life coming to Taos with my dad, my sisters, my grandparents lived here, my uncle still lives here,” Harris said. “Literally everybody that was here has passed away, except for my uncle, including my dad.”

“Driving these roads today — I’ve been driving for almost 12 hours, and you would think that’s so exhausting and boring — but the last couple of hours, driving through the mountains and just, like, remembering my place in the backseat as a little kid when my dad was making these trips,” she added, while looking visibly emotional.

Harris released her latest self-titled EP in March 2019, including her popular single “Twenty Years From Now” which she wrote for her daughter.

Our thoughts are with her loved ones during this tough time.
