Anna Duggar Lets Her Daughters Wear Jeans — But It’s Not As Progressive As You Think

When Jinger Duggar first started wearing jeans, she was in her 20s and a married woman, and she’s since become a style icon for the rest of the Duggar family. She’s inspired Jill Duggar to start rocking skinny jeans and shorts of her own, and she started dressing her daughter, Felicity, in her own denim. Now, fans have noticed that a couple other surprising family members have also followed in her footsteps: Josh and Anna Duggar‘s daughters. But according to the mom-of-five, her girls have actually been wearing jeans all along.

When Mackynzie and Meredith were spotted wearing denim while at the Silver Dollar City Theme Park, Counting On viewers were surprised that they were allowed to wear the pants. Up until now, it seemed that the girls were only allowed to wear skirts and dresses — but it looked like things had changed. “We enjoyed one last trip to Silver Dollar City this year!” Anna shared on Instagram. “It was great to be there with most of Joshua’s family and some extended family too! How are you guys wrapping up 2018?!?!”

The outfits got lots of love in the comments. “I love this little girls wearing jeans!” one fan wrote. “I always think you ladies must get so cold with wearing skirts all the time, so I was happy to see the little girls warm and cozy in pants.” However, Anna was quick to clarify something — the girls are still wearing skirts and dresses, they’re just also wearing jeans underneath. “From the time Mackynzie has been a baby I have always allowed our girls to wear jeans instead of leggings in the winter,” she wrote. “The long coat is covering her dress.”

And as it turns out, this isn’t even the first time we’ve seen the little girls in the controversial clothes. Back in November, they wore denim to the airport when they went to pick up their family friend. So while seeing them in pants may be something new for us, it’s totally old news for the family. Now we’re just hoping that one day they get to ditch the dresses if they want to. After all, Jinger and Jill have shown that there’s nothing immodest about rocking some jeans — even if you’re not married.
