Jessica Shannon Splits From Shyann McCant Shortly After Televised Wedding, Josh Elfrid Bombshell
June “Mama June” Shannon‘s daughter Jessica Shannon has announced she broke up with her wife, Shyann McCant, less than a month after their wedding aired on the family’s reality television show.
In a statement posted to Facebook on Tuesday, June 2, the 29-year-old reality TV star wrote, “As most of y’all can tell, me and Shyann are no longer together. We mutually decided that it was the best decision for both of us.”
“Yes, we are still friends,” Jessica clarified, “and yes, we are both cordial with each other, but we are no longer in a relationship.”
“We kindly ask that everyone be respectful during this time,” she concluded her statement, which was a joint post with McCant. “Please don’t send hate or negativity to either of us. This is already a difficult situation, and mean comments or unnecessary drama won’t make it any easier.”
Some followers reacted in disbelief in the comments section, with one person writing, “No, most of us cannot tell. We just watched y’all’s wedding like 2 weeks ago đ.”
The couple’s wedding was featured less than three weeks before on the May 15 Season 8 finale of Mama June: From Not to Hot. In the shocking episode, it was also revealed that McCant had allegedly slept with Josh Elfrid â the ex-husband of Jessica’s sister, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon â in the hopes of helping her and Jessica start a family together.
A source told TMZ that Jessica and McCant have not filed divorce paperwork yet, but they plan to.
The pair started dating in July 2022.
In an Instagram post celebrating their first anniversary with photos and videos, Jessica captioned a Reel, “This year has been on [sic] of the best years by far and I’m glad I got to spend it with you â¤ď¸ I’m so glad I never stopped chasing you cause I wouldn’t be as happy as I am now !”
“Between the random late night talks and the random trips to Walmart ,and the many pool times with us and all the kids ! I couldn’t ask for someone better to spend this life with but with you boo â¤ď¸,” she added.
“I can’t wait to see where this year takes us and can’t wait to make more memories with you ! Happy 1 year anniversary baby !! I love you more than you’ll ever know baby girl,” she concluded.
