Love on the Spectrum fans have come to know and love longtime stars David Isaacman and Abby Romeo, whose relationship has been documented on all three seasons of Netflix’s hit dating show. In season 2, which premiered in 2024, the couple got to fulfill their dream of visiting Africa together, with David paying for not only his girlfriend, but also her mom, Christine Romeo, and his sisters, Aubrey Isaacman and Alison “Ali” Isaacman, to tag along.

Many fans wondered how David was able to afford the lavish vacation. However, the Beverly Hills, California, native reportedly comes from a rich family.

What Is Alan Isaacman’s Job?

David is the son of parents Debbie Isaacman and Alan Isaacman. Debbie appears to have been a stay-at-home mom for David, Aubrey and Ali. Meanwhile, Alan has built a lucrative career as a Beverly Hills-based attorney.

Alan has worked with many high-profile clients over the years, including Geraldo Rivera, Kathy Griffin, Rock Hudson and CBS Broadcasting Inc. However, he’s most known for defending Larry Flynt, the publisher of the pornographic magazine Hustler, during the 1988 trial of Hustler Magazine, Inc. v. Jerry Falwell.

The case saw televangelist and political commentator Jerry sue the magazine for intentional infliction of emotional distress, libel and invasion of privacy after they ran a parody ad against him. However, Alan successfully argued to the Supreme Court that all parodies of public figures were protected under the United States Constitution. The Court ruled that the emotional distress inflicted on Jerry was not enough reason to deny First Amendment protection of speech.

The case was so prominent that it featured in the 1996 film The People vs. Larry Flynt, with Edward Norton portraying Alan and Woody Harrelson portraying Larry.

What Is ‘Love on the Spectrum’ Star David Isaacman’s Job?

As for what David does to make his own money, he works in the HR department in Beverly Hills’ City Hall, according to The Autism Community in Action. While it’s unclear what job he has in the department, he has worked there for six years, according to his bio.

“After work, he enjoys being a member of the award-winning Miracle Project, where he loves to sing and perform. His first appearance on Netflix was in the show Atypical, and later, in the Emmy award-winning series Love on the Spectrum U.S., which is where he met his beautiful girlfriend Abbey,” David’s bio continued. “He also enjoys being an influencer, in which he loves sharing with his followers snippets of his everyday life and his passions which include: his synesthesia (seeing numbers as colors), his passion for wildlife (especially the African animals) and more.”

While David hasn’t shared how much money he makes on Love on the Spectrum, Abbey joked about having newfound wealth in a May 2025 appearance on Logan Paul’s “Impaulsive” podcast.

“I want to build my own water park,” she said when asked what she wanted to do with her extra money. However, she added, “I don’t make as much money as Chappell Roan does.”
