The plot for revenge revealed

When Gypsy met Nick through a Christian dating website, they formed an instant connection and she soon saw him as a way to escape her mother. During her testimony at Godejohn’s trial, Gyspy said she talked Godejohn into committing the crime. Gypsy had reportedly “stolen a knife and gloves from Walmart to give to him to kill her mother,” according to the Springfield News-Leader.

Chilling texts exposed

The two also exchanged text messages where they discussed killing Gypsy’s mother. Those messages served as receipts to expose their plot to murder Dee Dee. “Honey, you forget I am ruthless, and my hatred of her will force her to die,” he texted Gypsy, according to Buzzfeed. She later responded, “Hun does he require just the [gloves] and knife?” referring to his “evil side.”

It seemed that Gypsy had given Godejohn the green light to go through with the attack, as she texted him on the night of Dee Dee’s murder, “I’ll hand him the knife and the duck tape inside Darling.”

Aftermath of the attack

Gypsy was later discovered at Godejohn’s Wisconsin home and she confessed how her mother had invented her lifelong ailments. Dee Dee, who was 48, is believed to have had Munchausen syndrome by proxy, which could explain why she fabricated Gypsy’s health issues. Gypsy told police she was being abused and admitted to asking her boyfriend to kill Dee Dee to free herself of her abuser. Gypsy later pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and is now serving a 10-year prison sentence, while Godejohn faces a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
