Gavin Rossdale Calls Gwen Stefani Breakup His ‘Most Embarrassing Moment’

It’s been four years since Gavin Rossdale and his ex-wife, Gwen Stefani, finalized their divorce, and he admits that time was humiliating because of the public interest in their breakup. 

When asked about his “most embarrassing moment” to date, the 54-year-old rocker told The Guardian it was tough to endure “the gross and lopsided specter of the crumbling of [his] marriage.” At the time, rumors were swirling he cheated on the No Doubt songstress, 50, with their family nanny.

Gavin and Gwen were married for 13 years before they decided to call it quits in August 2015. Prior to their split, they welcomed three children together: Kingston, 14, Zuma, 11, and Apollo, 6. He also shares a daughter Daisy, 31, with his former flame Pearl Lowe.

During the candid interview, the Bush singer reveals the “most important” lesson he learned is “that life is just a series of chapters, and it’s essential to try not to bring older chapters into new chapters.” As far as his “greatest achievement” goes, the performer says he is proud to still be “making music.”

Gavin and The Voice host still coparent amicably post-breakup, so the children often see both parents even though they moved on romantically. Gwen is with Blake Shelton and Gavin is dating model Natalie Golba. The musician says his “happiest moment” was when all four of his children were present to celebrate his birthday last year, adding “it was magical.” 

This isn’t the first time Gavin has spoken out about how difficult it was to move on in the wake of his split from Gwen. In 2017, he said it was the “worst” experience to go through. 

“Well, if you divorce America’s sweetheart, you’re in trouble. Or rather, if she divorces me,” he told the publication. “She’s the mother of my children and one of the most incredible girls in the world … I wish her all the happiness in the world, and that’s the true sign of love.”

Luckily, Gavin and Gwen’s kids are “well-adjusted” to having her new beau around. She and Blake, 44, got together in late 2015 and now her children are quite close to the “Nobody But You” singer.

“You have to hand it to Gwen, she’s definitely taken the high road,” a source told In Touch exclusively in February. “And Blake knows better than to get involved or worse, get in the middle. Blake and Gavin don’t have issues with each other.”
