Ricky Schroder and his wife, Julie Trammell, have been in Utah this week, supporting Charlie Kirk‘s family during the preliminary hearing for Tyler Robinson, the man accused of killing the conservative commentator. In a new interview, Schroder reiterated his belief that Robinson is guilty.

“It’s obvious that Tyler Robinson is guilty,” Schroder, 56, said during an interview on Newmax’s Rob Schmitt Tonight on Thursday, July 9. “The evidence is overwhelming. His own confession to his lover reveals that he did, in fact, kill Charlie Kirk.”

The Silver Spoons alum said that he and Trammell, 41, “listened to the entire day’s testimony and saw all the evidence live” during their drive to Provo, Utah, where the hearing is being held. He also slammed those fueling unfounded theories.

“It’s a sad, sad state of affairs,” Schroder continued. “What’s happened, and all the people that are in denial, that still believe other podcasters like Candace [Owens], that are, you know, in some sort of mental collapse when the evidence is so overwhelming and in front of your eyes to see the truth.”

Host Rob Schmitt also gave Trammell a chance to weigh in with her thoughts.

“It’s just sad that so many people are painting the Kirk family as something that they’re not, which is just a grieving family who lost the most important person in their life,” she explained. “It’s all these people that believe the conspiracies. It’s like Masonic almost in a sense, like they’re looking for hidden knowledge, that they think that they know more information than the facts that are given to us.”

However, the former child star pointed out that he doesn’t believe the “developing story” is whether or not Robinson, 23, was actually guilty. Instead, Schroder said he was more concerned about “the millions of people who refuse to believe the reality and the groupthink that social media has infected so many millions of people with.”

Charlie died at the age of 31 after he was shot during the visit of his American Comeback Tour on September 10, 2025. Robinson turned himself into police roughly 36 hours later and was charged with aggravated murder.

However, since then, Owens, 37, has repeatedly questioned the events surrounding his death and criticized Charlie’s widow, Erika Kirk.

Robinson’s preliminary hearing is expected to conclude on Friday, July 10, and at the time of publication, he has not entered a plea.
