Don Lemon Says He’s ‘Never’ Considered Megyn Kelly a Journalist Amid Their Ongoing Feud
Don Lemon is not mincing words.
The former CNN host, 60, took yet another swipe at political commentator Megyn Kelly as their bitter feud rages on.
During Lemon’s sit-down conversation with former colleague Alisyn Camerota on Connected with Alisyn Camerota — which was released in full on Scripps News and its YouTube channel on Friday, March 27 — the two discussed everything from his firing at CNN to the state of journalism today.
“Are you still a journalist?” Camerota asked Lemon in the interview, which was filmed in January just before he was arrested by federal authorities on January 29 following his coverage of a Minnesota protest.
“Yes,” Lemon replied, before the two spoke about what qualities they feel make someone a true journalist.
“Lots of people are calling themselves journalists right now who just have a phone,” Camerota pointed out.
“I don’t believe that they are journalists. I don’t consider some influencers to be journalists,” Lemon countered, explaining that he feels someone needs to have a “background” in journalism, including education and experience.
“Once a journalist, always a journalist, right?” he asked Camerota, who questioned: “Do you consider Megyn Kelly a journalist?”
“Oh,” Lemon replied. “I never considered her a journalist to begin with.”
Lemon’s comments were made before his arrest, which Kelly, 55, then mocked on her The Megyn Kelly Show, saying that he “makes a fool of himself on his bizarre YouTube channel.”
The two have hurled insults at each other for a long time, with Lemon most notably telling Kelly to “go f**k yourself” following her response to the news that MSNBC anchor Joy Reid and her show The ReidOut would be leaving the network.
Lemon caught flak, however, when some people said he took the insults too far by saying that Kelly looked “trans.”
When asked during a podcast episode if he considers Kelly to be “chopped,” or “not hot,” Lemon said, “Yeah, she’s chopped. I think she looks trans. She looks clockable.”
