Daveigh Chase‘s former manager, John Ryan, has raised concerns about a series of fundraisers launched by The Ring star’s boyfriend as he shared updates about her declining condition before her untimely death.
“A man claiming to be Daveigh’s boyfriend has launched a GoFundMe page purportedly on behalf of Daveigh and her family,” Ryan told TMZ on Thursday, June 18. “Neither her family nor her close friends know who this person is.”
The GoFundMe campaigns were started earlier this week, and Chase’s boyfriend, Roy Hernandez, said his “hope” was to “raise enough money to find a place where we can be together and make her comfortable during her last days.”
However, Ryan denied that Chase needed money to cover her medical bills.
“I can confirm Daveigh has a SAG trust account with more than enough funds to cover all medical and related expenses,” he explained to the outlet, adding that the Lilo & Stitch voice actress’ father had already contacted the hospital to claim her body.
Ryan also urged the public not to donate to the fundraisers “until the organizer’s identity and claims can be verified,” but Hernandez denied that they were illegitimate.

Three separate campaigns were launched with one asking for $5,500 and another asking for $4,500. The amount the third campaign was requesting was not visible. So far, the fundraisers have raised almost $4,100 combined.
As In Touch previously reported, the Big Love alum died at the age of 35 on Tuesday, June 17, after contracting meningitis, which led to blood infections and sepsis.
Ryan spoke with Page Six and said that her family had been concerned for her wellbeing for several months. Last year, he and Chase’s stepsister, Gaia Brown, hired a private investigator in an attempt to locate her. They were shown the video and managed to speak with Chase on the phone. Unfortunately, by the time Ryan arrived at Skid Row, she had already “disappeared.”
“We were so close to finding her,” he told the outlet. “Daveigh was the sweetest and brightest light in Hollywood. I can’t believe this is real. Her legacy and work will live on forever.”
