Chelsea Handler Confirms She and Her Mystery ‘Cowboy’ Boyfriend Have Called It Quits

Chelsea Handler is back on the market — and she’s perfectly fine with that.

The comedian, 51, revealed that she and the younger man she’d been dating for roughly six months have split. Handler had kept her boyfriend’s identity private throughout the relationship, referring to him only as her “cowboy.”

“The last guy I was dating, I met him in Vegas at a blackjack table. That was a really fun, like, adventure,” Handler said while appearing on the Tuesday, May 26 episode of the Let’s Be Honest With Kristin Cavallari podcast. “We had a great five, six months together.”

According to Handler, there’s no bad blood between them. She told host Kristin Cavallari that she typically hits a wall around the six-month mark, calling it her “timeline” until the initial “buzz” fades. She and her ex remain friends, and she didn’t rule out a future reconnection.

“Maybe I’ll see him again, maybe we’ll fool around again,” she said on the podcast, adding that she simply doesn’t want the expectations that come with defining the relationship.

Handler also pushed back on the idea that sharing photos of her cowboy earlier this year signaled anything serious. “I post guys all the time that I’m dating,” she explained on the podcast. “I’m not posting them saying, ‘this is my boyfriend.’ It’s like who I’m spending time with.”

The former Chelsea Lately host made it crystal clear that settling down isn’t on her to-do list. “I am not a long-term person. I’m not interested in anything that comes after the six-month relationship mark,” Handler admitted on the podcast. “I’m not interested in dealing with your family or your issues. I am not interested.”

She went even further, describing exactly what she does want. “I don’t want to be part of a unit. I want to have a good, sexy affair. I don’t want to be a couple,” she added.

Her ideal partner? Someone who doesn’t live nearby — “someone who I see probably, like, every two weeks” — and who’s game to travel with her, per the podcast appearance.
