Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra Get to Chat With the Daughter They Placed for Adoption on Her Birthday

It's been nine years since Catelynn Lowell and her now husband, Tyler Baltierra, made the difficult decision to place their daughter Carly for adoption. Fans first watched their heartbreaking story unfold on 16 & Pregnant and have been following the couple on their adoption journey ever since. In honor of Carly's ninth birthday on May 18, Catelynn took to Instagram to share an incredibly touching post for her first biological child — and revealed they're going to chat.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARLY ?? today you are 9 years old NINE!!! That is insane to me!!! Today at 10:39 a.m. you took your very first breath and brought so much joy to this world!!! We love you so much and will talk with you later."

Followers rallied behind the 26-year-old to offer their unwavering support. "Happiest Birthday to Carly! She's one lucky little lady to have so many people who love her!" commented one fan. Another added, "You and Tyler are two of the smartest and bravest parents out there. Be proud."

Tyler shared his own post for Carly, and fans were even given a partial snap of what she looks like today. "Happy Birthday to my beautiful first born!" he began his lengthy post. "I can't believe Carly is nine years old today and I'm just so blessed because I may not have the luxury of seeing her everyday but I have the peace of mind knowing I will see her one day a year (sometimes two).

He added, "I have learned a lot throughout this adoption journey and I have made mistakes in the past regarding that relationship. But I feel like I have grown up and matured through all of that and I now realize that I need to count my blessings and I am proud to say that I have 9 blessings, 9 years of seeing her grow through visits and pictures, 9 birthday cakes, and ONE child to forever impact my life in so many ways. I love you Carly, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Your birth daddy loves you SO MUCH!" BRB, crying.

While both Catelynn and Tyler have experienced their fair share of struggles — namely with depression and substance abuse — the Teen Mom star insisted in a previous message that giving their firstborn up for adoption was the best decision they could have made.
