Britney Spears Would ‘Love a 2nd Chance’ With Her Sons Jayden and Preston Amid Estrangement

All smiles! Britney Spears has recently reconnected with her youngest son, Jayden, and the reunion seems to have boosted her spirits.

“In many ways, Britney seems much happier than she was last year,” a source told Us Weekly in an article published on Wednesday, December 18.

Britney, 43, has been estranged from her sons, Preston, 19, and Jayden, 18, since 2022 and they moved to Hawaii with their father, Kevin Federline, the following year. While the “Oops! I Did It Again” singer is reportedly still working on things with Preston, Us Weekly reported that Jayden is “open to mending the relationship with his mom and seeing where things go.”

“They’ve been getting along great,” a separate source told the publication, and mentioned that Jayden was currently living with his mom in California with plans to attend school there next year. “Britney’s convinced they’ll have a flourishing relationship in the near future. It’s all she ever talks about. She would love a second chance with them.”

The “Toxic” songstress has also reportedly been attempting to reestablish a relationship with her mom, Lynne Spears.

“Things with Lynne have been rocky [recently], but Britney wants to improve [their relationship],” a source explained to Us Weekly. “She misses her and gets sad about her family dynamic.”

Rumors of a rift between the Crossroads star and her sons started circulating when Jayden and Preston declined the invitation to attend Britney’s wedding to Sam Ashari in June 2022. A short time later, Jayden spoke out about his feelings regarding his mom, specifically the type of photos and videos she shared on social media.

“It’s almost as if she has to post something on Instagram to get attention,” Jayden said during an interview with ITV on September 2, 2022. “This has gone on for years and years and years, and there’s a high chance that this is never going to really stop, but I’m hoping for me, maybe she will.”

Britney shot back in a now-deleted Instagram post and said that she was “deeply saddened” by Jayden’s comments.

“I say to my son Jayden that I send all the love in the world to you every day for the rest of my life!!!! My love for my children has no boundaries,” the Grammy winner continued. “Keep playing your gift on the piano… You and your brother are brilliant and I’m so proud to call you mine.”

A little over a year after Britney and Sam, 30, tied the knot, a source told In Touch that the former couple’s relationship was on the rocks.

“Britney wants out of her marriage. A divorce is in the works. Even though she’s pushed Sam to the brink with her erratic behavior, he would probably keep enduring it, but she’s adamant,” an insider exclusively told In Touch on August 16, 2023. “She’s accused him of everything from spying on her, secretly recording her, cheating on her, talking to her family behind her back and other horrible things. She now thinks that Sam was always using her, that she was his meal ticket and that he never truly loved her.”

The same day, Sam filed for a dissolution of their marriage, and on December 2, their divorce was finalized.
