Britney Spears Legally Single on Her 43rd Birthday After Finalizing Divorce From Sam Asghari: Report

Britney Spears will reportedly be celebrating her 43rd birthday as a legally single woman seven months after finalizing her divorce from Sam Asghari.

The “Toxic” singer, who turned 43 years old on Monday, December 2, began her birthday by getting declared legally single by the California courts, according to legal documents obtained by TMZ.

Britney’s updated marital status came after she and Sam, 30, reached a divorce settlement on May 2. Their agreement stated that neither the pop star nor her ex-husband would receive future spousal support, according to court documents obtained by Associated Press at the time. Any future disputes would also need to be settled in private arbitration.

A source exclusively told In Touch on August 16, 2023, that Britney and Sam were headed for divorce after 14 months of marriage.

“Britney wants out of her marriage. A divorce is in the works. Even though she’s pushed Sam to the brink with her erratic behavior, he would probably keep enduring it, but she’s adamant,” the insider said. “She’s accused him of everything from spying on her, secretly recording her, cheating on her, talking to her family behind her back and other horrible things. She now thinks that Sam was always using her, that she was his meal ticket and that he never truly loved her.”

Sam filed for dissolution of marriage that same day, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split. He listed their date of separation as July 28, 2023. Sam requested spousal support and asked to terminate the court’s ability to award alimony to his ex. Finally, he asked that Britney pay for his attorney’s fees.

The pair signed an ironclad prenup before tying the knot in June 2022, multiple outlets reported. In a statement to In Touch, Sam’s spokesperson, Brandon Cohen, shut down rumors that Sam intended to go after Britney regarding a prenup or retaliatory content.

“There are many claims that Sam is challenging the prenup and threatening to exploit his ex-wife with videos. However, all these claims are false, as no negative intention has ever been directed towards her and never will be,” Cohen said. ”Sam has always and will always support her.”

Sam broke his silence on the divorce on August 17, 2023.

“After 6 years of love and commitment to each other my wife and I have decided to end our journey together,” the Iran-born model wrote on his Instagram Stories. “We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other and I wish her the best always. S–t happens. Asking for privacy seems ridiculous so I will just ask for everyone including media to be kind and thoughtful.”

Britney spoke out the following day, writing on her own Instagram, “As everyone knows, Hesam and I are no longer together … 6 years is a long time to be with someone so, I’m a little shocked but … I’m not here to explain why because its honestly nobody’s business !!!”

She continued, “But, I couldn’t take the pain anymore honestly !!! In some sort of telepathic way I have been receiving so many messages that melt my heart from friends and I thank you !!!”

Both Britney and Sam moved on to other relationships amid their divorce. The “Circus” singer began an on-off romance with her former housekeeper Paul Soliz, while the fitness trainer is rumored to be dating former competitive cheerleader Brooke Irvine.
