Ben Affleck Praises Ex J. Lo as Her Kids Join His at Film Premiere: ‘Love When All the Kids Come Out’
A family affair! Ben Affleck and his children reunited with his ex-wife Jennifer Lopez’s kids at the premiere of his new movie, The Accountant 2.
“It’s a great night. The kids are here, Jen’s kids are here. I’m very, very excited,” Ben, 52, told Entertainment Tonight as he walked the red carpet at the premiere on Wednesday, April 16. “I’m proud of the movie, I love the movie, and I love when all the kids come out. It’s really fun, it’s exciting.”
J. Lo, 55, is mom to twins Emme and Max, 17, whom she shares with her ex-husband Marc Anthony, while Ben shares three children with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner – Violet, 19, Seraphina “Fin”, 16, and Samuel, 13.
Despite what seemed like a somewhat contentious split, Ben praised J. Lo when speaking to the outlet.
“Listen, I don’t read the stuff online much, and sometimes I get the sense that people perpetuate this idea of … they wanna find something negative to talk about,” Ben told the publication after it was commented how “dope” it was that all of the kids were there together. “For the record, Jennifer Lopez is spectacular, great to my kids, great ongoing relationship with them. I love her kids. They’re wonderful. She’s [an] enormously important, tremendous person of a lot of integrity who I adore and am grateful to.”
He continued, “I’m thrilled that the kids are here with me. The relationships that you can have with children like that, it’s the joy of my life. And those kids are amazing, and I’m glad that this is a movie they want to come to.”
Rumors about trouble in Ben and J. Lo’s marriage began swirling in the first half of 2024, and the whispers kicked into overdrive when the Hustlers star attended the Met Gala solo in May 2024. In Touch was the first to report that Ben moved out of the former couple’s shared marital home.
“The writing is on the wall – it’s over,” the insider said at the time. “They’re headed for a divorce – and for once, [Ben’s] not to blame. They’ll never stop loving each other, but she can’t control him, and he can’t change her. There’s no way it could have lasted.”
The source continued, “Ben already moved out and they’ll likely have to sell the dream house they spent two years searching for.”
In the following months, the Good Will Hunting actor and J. Lo spent most of their time apart.
However, Fin and Emme grew especially close while their parents were married. In May 2024, an insider told Life & Style that Emme was Fin’s “No. 1 fan” at her school play.
“[Emme] was hooting and hollering and jumping around after [Fin’s] performance,” the source told the publication at the time. “All the kids were hyped up afterward, congratulating each other and running around.”
That same month, a separate insider exclusively revealed to In Touch that Ben and J. Lo refused to let anything ruin their children’s relationships with each other.
“Nothing would have stopped them coming together for the kids,” the source explained. “All the marriage drama comes second. They are putting on a united front. Jen showed up with Emme to support Fin. Emme’s super attached to Fin, so it’s only natural that Jen, no matter what she’s going through with Ben, was there.”
In August 2024, the Maid in Manhattan star officially filed for divorce and it was finalized in January.
