George Clooney changed his playboy ways when he walked down the aisle and married Amal Clooney in 2014. Since their wedding day, the couple has built a life filled with children, beautiful homes and meaningful charity work. However, their increasingly rare public appearances together have sparked speculation they could be headed for a divorce.

Are George and Amal Clooney Getting a Divorce?

Neither George nor Amal have hinted toward a possible split. Things seemingly are going well between the couple as the Batman actor spoke highly of his wife of more than 10 years during an April 2025 appearance on CBS Mornings while promoting his Broadway debut in Good Night, and Good Luck.

George told host Gayle King that he and Amal were “having a really great time in life.”

“I remember we were here with you once before, and I remember we said we’d never had an argument. We still haven’t. We’re trying to find something to fight about!” George said as he recounted a previous interview with the CBS anchor. “I feel so extraordinarily lucky to have met this incredible woman. I feel as if I hit the jackpot. There isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t think I’m the luckiest man in the world. So it’s great.”

Why Did Fans Think George Clooney and Amal Clooney Were Splitting?

George and Amal rarely make public appearances together, but she was noticeably missing when George made his Broadway debut at Manhattan’s Winter Garden Theater on April 3, 2025.

Many of George’s inner circle attended the event, including longtime BFFs Rande Gerber, Cindy Crawford and Richard Kind and his former ER costars Noah Wyle, Julianna Margulies and Anthony Edwards.

“She’s with the kids,” George explained to reporters.

George’s response “definitely raised a lot of eyebrows, which brought up all the divorce rumors that have swirled around them for years,” a source later exclusively told In Touch on April 16, 2025.

“But the truth about their marriage is that they’re content raising a family together without having to be around each other all the time,” the source concluded.

Despite Amal’s glamorous persona, she “definitely doesn’t need to be in the spotlight,” the source said. Her work as an international human rights lawyer “is very serious and she would rather the public focus on that.”

George and Amal are the parents of twins, Alexander and Ella, whom they welcomed in 2017. The Spy Kids 3 actor has opened up in the past about how Amal’s job has impacted their small family.

“We have plenty of issues — real, proper security issues — that we have to deal with on a fairly daily basis,” the actor told The Hollywood Reporter in 2019 when Amal began battling alleged ISIS terrorists and their financiers in a series of court cases, some of which are ongoing. “We don’t really want our kids to be targets, so we have to pay attention to that.”
