Angelina Jolie Wants ‘Everyone to Heal’ Amid Kids’ Decisions to Drop Dad Brad Pitt’s Last Name

Following the news that daughter Vivienne Jolie-Pitt has filed documents to drop “Pitt” from her last name, a source close to Angelina Jolie is sharing her take on it.

In a new Page Six report published on Wednesday, July 22, an insider close to Jolie, 51, revealed how she really feels about her children no longer wanting to be associated with Brad Pitt‘s family name.

“Angie hasn’t been fighting and isn’t angry,” the insider claimed to the outlet. “She just wants everyone to heal.”

In Touch previously reported that Vivienne, 18, filed paperwork in Los Angeles Superior Court on July 12 requesting Pitt be dropped from her name, citing her reason for the request as “personal.” A hearing has been scheduled for November 2.

Pitt, 62, and ex-wife Jolie, 51, also share Maddox, 24, Pax, 22, Zahara, 21, Shiloh, 20, and Vivienne’s 18-year-old twin, Knox.

Shiloh, Maddox, and Zahara previously filed their own paperwork requesting to drop the last name Pitt. Shiloh’s name change took place in 2024 shortly after she turned 18. Zahara and Maddox’s name change requests came next and are still pending.

“If people knew the whole truth they would have more sympathy for the children and respect them,” the insider added. “The fact they aren’t speaking ill or sharing things publicly only shows their decency.”

Meanwhile, Knox has yet to file paperwork requesting a legal name change. However, the last name Pitt was not on his high school diploma, per reports. It appears that Pax has not filed for any name changes either.

Neither Brad nor Angelina have publicly spoken out about the name changes.
