After entering rehab earlier this year, Alaskan Bush People star Matt Brown seems to be struggling. The reality personality has had his family worried for a while now ever since he left treatment early and then refused to work with a sober coach. Things only got worse when he left home behind and headed out to the California desert, leading his family to fear he’d relapsed once more. And now that Christmas has come and passed without a visit from their son, Billy and Ami Brown are more worried than ever.

“Matt has not returned home to his family since he left for the desert almost one month ago!” a source close to the family told Radar Online. “Matt was not with his family for Christmas and all that they really know is that he is somewhere in the desert.” According to the news outlet, he was spotted in Palm Desert, CA, in mid-December, and a week later, a photo placed him in Mountain Center. Now, though, it seems that no one knows exactly where he is.

“The family is all incredibly worried right now because Matt didn’t even tell anyone he was leaving,” a source told Radar earlier this month. “He just up and left even though he was advised to stay put and focus on his sobriety.” As of November, the star was still allegedly going to meetings and working with a therapist, but it seems that may no longer be the case now that he’s left the state. And considering Radar‘s other reports that Matt only initially entered rehab because of a family intervention, it sounds like there’s plenty of cause for concern.

The family hasn’t officially released a statement since Matt and his parents talked to People earlier this year. “I struggle with substance abuse, and after a year of ups and downs, I decided to return to treatment,” he said in September. “I’m really grateful for everyone’s support and hope to have my life back on track soon.” Billy agreed, saying, “We miss him terribly, but we’d rather lose him from home for a little while than lose him forever… We just want him to do what he needs to do to get better.”
