Who Is ’90 Day Fiance’ Star Jamal Menzies?

Jamal first appeared on the flagship series following his mother’s relationship with the Nigerian superstar. Kim called her son her “biggest accomplishment” and attributed him as the “best thing” that came out of her failed marriage. 

“After 20 years with Jamal’s father, I found out he was cheating. I don’t even know which one to pick from because there were so many,” the TLC alum explained on the premiere of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days in December 2021.  “Having been so loyal to somebody that didn’t reciprocate that to me was a very hurtful thing.”

Kim’s relationship with her son would play a major role in her new romance with the “Zara” rapper as his approval would be a major hurdle. 

“I would lay down in the street and die for two people in my life,” Kim spoke of her bond with her close-knit family. “And that is my mother and my son Jamal.”

Following Kim and SojaBoy’s run on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, the pair made their relationship official and went on to star on season 7 of the 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After. 

During the series, the mom of one traveled to Usman’s native country of Nigeria in hopes of getting engaged to the singer. The “I Love You” singer’s mom, Fadimatu​, was hesitant to give her blessing on their marriage because of Kim’s age, since she is in her 50s and not able to give Usman biological children. Despite his mother’s concerns, Usman accepted Kim’s romantic proposal.

Fadimatu came to a solution: she would allow Kim and Usman to marry but only if Kim would be Usman’s second wife. His mother insisted that Usman first find a woman his age to marry as his first wife so he could have children with her, then he would be able to marry Kim. While Kimberly was okay with Usman having multiple wives, she was dead set on becoming his first wife. 

Upon hearing Kim’s big engagement news over a video call, Jamal had some tough love for his mother and shared an interesting take on the Usman’s actions. 

“You said that he doesn’t disobey his mom but he said, ‘Yes’ to your proposal,” Jamal told his mom during the November 2022 episode. “So to me, it sounds like he’s perfectly fine with deceiving his mom and disobeying her — which means he would do that to you in a heartbeat.” 

Following Kim’s return to the U.S., Jamal learned that Usman asked Kim if she would consider adopting his nephew and also believed it was time for him and Jamal to meet in person.

During a December 2022 episode, Kim and Jamal made the trek to Africa despite Kim’s son not fully trusting Usman. 

Usman hoped Nigeria could be a good second home for Jamal, however, Jamal heard the details of how he planned to adopt his brother’s son and he felt the rapper wasn’t being truthful when it came to his mother.

While Jamal is famous for his role in his mom’s storyline on 90 Day Fiancé, In Touch confirmed in December 2022 that he’s dating fellow franchise costar, Veronica Rodriguez. 

“They’re just having fun,” an insider exclusively told In Touch about the new romance between the TLC alums. 

The 90 Day: The Single Life star, who initially made her debut in the franchise alongside ex-fiancé Tim Malcolm as part of his storyline with Colombia native, Jeniffer Tarazona, revealed her relationship with Jamal during part three of the season 3 tell-all, which dropped on Monday, December 12.
