When Did Amy Slaton and Michael Halterman Meet?

Although the TLC personalities met in high school, Amy and Michael didn’t tie the knot until March 2019. The longtime sweethearts said “I do” during a ceremony in Nashville, Tennessee, in March of that year.

The 40-year-old Kentucky native was a mill operator at Shamrock Technologies, but he is listed as not currently employed in his divorce documents.

Amy and Michael are the proud parents of two sons. Gage Deon arrived in November 2020, and Amy gave birth to his little brother, Glenn Allen, in July 2022. At the time, the reality star said that their family “was complete.”

In addition to growing their family, Amy and Michael decided to grow their space! They purchased a home in Morganfield, Kentucky, for $37,000, In Touch confirmed in early February 2022.

“We were driving around one day, and we saw the sign and we’re like, ‘There’s our sign, we need to move,'” Amy told The Sun the same month. “And Gage was always sleeping in the kitchen, I wanted him to have his own room … And I knew we were going to have another kid, so I made sure we had enough room for both of them.”

Prior to that, Amy lived in a duplex in Dixon, Kentucky, with sister Tammy. Although they didn’t share the same unit, they were neighbors.

After she became pregnant with baby No. 2, Amy continued to focus on living a healthier lifestyle. “I’m not drinking alcohol,” she told The Sun in a separate interview, adding that she’s also “cut down” on cigarettes. “I used to smoke a pack of cigarettes a day, like 20, now I’m down to about five a day.”

Are Amy Slaton and Michael Halterman Still Together?

Michael filed for divorce on March 13, 2023, according to Kentucky court ​records obtained by In Touch. It came following split rumors about the couple that started the month prior when Amy reportedly moved out of the pair’s Kentucky home with their sons. The date of their separation was listed as February 24, 2023.

A judge ruled the pair will share temporary joint custody of Gage and Glenn and will have a shared parenting schedule that will allow Amy and Michael “maximize the amount of available parenting time.”

The former couple were ordered not to come within 500 feet of each other and must stay 500 feet away from each other’s residences. Amy and Michael are also forbidden from making public statements about one another.

Is Michael Halterman Leaving ‘1000-Lb Sisters’?

With Michael filing to dissolve their marriage, it’s unclear if he will still appear on the TLC hit. Amy previously said that the pair had been considering taking a step back from 1000-Lb Sisters. “If they cut down my hours, I’ll be probably fine,” she told The Sun in February 2022. “I like the crew most, filming can be stressful, you’re there all day and you have to say stuff over and over again. I love the relationship with the crew. But it’s stressful right now, he [Gage] needs a lot of attention.”
