Jersey Shore’s Vinny Guadagnino Says He Got Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino ‘Onto the Keto Diet’

Wake up, keto guido! Major advocate for the keto diet, Vinny Guadagnino is super vocal about the high-fat, adequate-protein, low-carb lifestyle. The 31-year-old recommends it to all his friends, family and now the public with his new cookbook, The Keto Guido Cookbook. Jersey Shore castmate Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino took the plunge and joined his pal on the low-carb side. Vinny told People how Mike, 37, is doing on the diet now that he is a free man.

“Mike was the first person to ever call me and ask me how the diet works, and I got him onto the keto diet,” the Staten Island native said. Vinny said Mike wasn’t exactly sticking to the diet before his stint in prison, but since he is a free man again, he is really giving it a try. “Before he went to prison, he was eating everything in sight,” Vinny laughed. “But he knew the principles of it and now he’s really applying it.”

The newlywed was released for his eight-month prison sentence earlier this month. He was incarcerated for one count of tax evasion. Since his release, Mike has been posting on social media and sharing his post-prison meals.

Vinny said Mike’s recent “feast mode” Instagram post is all a part of the plan. “Mike deserved that,” he says, adding, “This diet is not — no pun intended — a prison sentence, where you can’t eat that stuff again. It’s basically, you work hard for most of the time and then reward yourself. And that, he did.”

Jenni “JWoww” Farley also took a liking to the keto diet and even shares it with her family. “Jenni does it in her house all the time for her kids,” the lean hunk said. “She understands that eating a sugar-free, grain-free life is healthier for them. So I always put her onto different products and stuff.”

Vinny lost 50 lbs since he started the keto diet. He said the meal plan isn’t just about cutting out bread and pasta but embracing “real food.” He added although he may love pizza, he’d “rather make this sacrifice.” Do you think “The Situation” is the next Keto Guido?
