The Busbys Deal With a Scary Mold Situation After Ava Gets Sick on ‘OutDaughtered’
On last week’s episode of OutDaughtered, the Busbys found themselves dealing with a scary situation after Ava got sick. Now, they’ve discovered that the mold issue that lead to her illness may be even more serious than it seems. When an expert visited parents Adam and Danielle Busby‘s home in the Tuesday, June 18th episode, she had only bad news to share. “The results are terrifying,” the mom revealed in the show. “The whole upstairs seems to be covered with mold.”
Danielle, 35, took Ava, one of the quints, to the doctor in the previous episode after she was having trouble breathing. Now, she’s shared that the mold is “really bad in Ava and Olivia’s room” in particular. “My stomach is turning over because the numbers are like, astronomical,” she said. According to the expert, there are “19,000 spores” in that bedroom. “That is hour after hour, night after night exposure,” she said. “That’s a big problem.”
Fixing it would take some major work — and no small amount of cash — and would require them to temporarily relocate, which they already did IRL. “All of the clothing can be washed. Pillows will need to be discarded. Mattresses need to be discarded,” the expert explained. “You need a full-blown mold remediation contractor to come in and HEPA vacuum everything, clean everything. It’s a big process.”
After a trip to the doctor, it was revealed that Ava was battling a “virus that’s affecting the upper airway, her throat airway, so that’s why she sounds like she’s swallowed a cat.” Danielle said that her daughter’s airway was “closing up” — and they might need to head over to the hospital if her health didn’t improve. Now, the parents are worried that older sister Blayke’s health may have been affected, too. “Blayke has always had this dry cough and what if that’s a factor of this?” Danielle asked.
“Basically, everybody needs to get tested,” she continued. “All of them need to get tested. It’s really starting to worry me that all these girls are getting sick. It’s really scary. … I don’t want to be in this house.”
