‘Teen Mom OG’ Star Mackenzie Edwards Gets Candid About Opioid Deaths Amid Ryan’s Struggles

Amid Teen Mom OG star Ryan Edwards‘ ongoing battle with addiction and a stint in rehab, his wife, Mackenzie Edwards, is getting candid about opioid deaths on her Instagram Story. In new posts, the reality star is sharing the statistics with her fans, followers, and haters. Even more than that, she’s confronting the fact that anyone can become an addict, especially with something like prescription pills. Mack, who’s been showing her husband a lot of love lately, started the conversation on Wednesday, January 16 by showing videos of a chart of national overdose deaths from all drugs, revealing they’ve been on the rise since 2002. And luckily, she wasn’t speaking up alone. A supporter also DM’d her to add, “Tell them about how REGULAR people get hooked on prescription drugs because of injury or surgery or chronic pain! [These are] not crackheads in the street who are choosing to get high!”

The Teen Mom star agreed, writing back, “You’re right! It’s people you’d NEVER expect. It’s lawyers, doctors, high power officials, the soccer mom in her minivan. It does NOT discriminate.”

She continued, “Don’t believe me? You’d be surprised. A lot of the time it starts so innocent and ends in a revolving door, a never-ending cycle that can’t be easily stopped. Have you ever wondered what your local pain clinic was handing out? Opiates. Educate yourselves.”

Though she didn’t mention Ryan by name at any point, her message came through loud and clear. When she made her vows and said she’d be there for him through sickness and health, she meant it — and she’s going educate everyone else about addiction while doing it.
