Jenelle Evans’ mom, Barbara Evans, is reportedly fighting for custody of her grandson, Jace Evans, despite the fact that he previously pulled a gun on her.
According to a report from TMZ published on Monday, March 16, Barbara went to court on March 13 and filed a motion petitioning for full custody of Jace, 16. The outlet reported that Jenelle was not aware of the motion and the judge quickly denied it.
“It doesn’t matter that it was denied, because I’m going to court on March 23rd for a temporary custody hearing,” Barbara told TMZ. “The evidence will be presented then.”
As In Touch previously reported, Jace, who Jenelle shares with ex Andrew Lewis, allegedly threatened to kill himself and his grandmother, Barbara, last month.

On March 9, TMZ reported that authorities responded to a 911 call for a “troubled teen disturbance” on February 22, and the situation was serious enough to warrant further action. Jace later checked into a mental health facility.
Barbara has mostly raised Jace since he was an infant, but Jenelle has repeatedly tried to regain custody of her eldest son. In 2023, Jenelle – who also shares son Kaiser, 11, with ex-fiancé Nathan Griffith, and daughter Ensley, 9, with ex-husband David Eason – was granted custody of Jace once again.
However, he eventually returned to live with Barbara after he ran away from Jenelle’s home multiple times.
It remains unclear how long Jace will be held in treatment.
“At this time, we have no comment on the matter,” a rep for Jenelle told TMZ on March 9. “We’re unable to discuss this issue because it involves confidential personal matters.”
