She Said ‘Yes!’ Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn Are Engaged After More Than 5 Years Together

It’s a love story! Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn are engaged after more than five years together, multiple sources tell In Touch. Life & Style was the first to break the news.

The “All Too Well” artist, 32, and the English actor, 30, first sparked engagement rumors in mid-January after taking a romantic, three-day trip to Cornwall.

Since getting together in October 2016, Taylor and Joe have mostly kept their romance out of the public eye. “I’m aware people want to know about that side of things. I think we have been successfully very private, and that has now sunk in for people … but I really prefer to talk about work,” the Mary Queen of Scots actor said during an interview with British Vogue in 2018.

More recently, Taylor has opened up about her relationship with Joe, specifically how they bond over music. After winning Album of the Year at the 2021 Grammy Awards, the “Lover” singer gave her beau a sweet shout-out. “Joe, who is the first person that I sing every single song that I write,” Taylor gushed, adding that she had “so much fun writing songs in quarantine” with him.

Using the pseudonym William Bowery, Joe collaborated with Taylor on “Betty” and “Exile” off her Folklore album, as well as “Champagne Problems,” “Coney Island” and the title track off her Evermore album.

“Joe plays piano beautifully and he’s always just playing and making things up and kinda just creating things,” the Pennsylvania native detailed in her Disney+ film, Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions. “I was like, ‘Hey, this could be really weird and we could hate this, [but] because we’re in quarantine and there’s nothing else going on, could we just try to write this song together?'”

Taylor found that Joe added a fresh perspective and sound to her tracks. “I thought it sounded really good from a masculine perspective, and it seemed to be an apology,” she detailed. “I’ve written so many songs from a female’s perspective of wanting a male apology that we decided to make it from a teenage boy’s perspective apologizing after he loses the love of his life because he’s been foolish.”

Prior to Joe, Taylor had notable relationships with A-listers like Harry Styles, Jake Gyllenhaal and John Mayer. However, it’s clear she found her soulmate in Joe.

“Joe is always telling Taylor that she’s the most beautiful woman he’s ever met,” a source previously told Life & Style. “Inside and out.”

Reps for Taylor and Joe did not immediately reply to In Touch‘s request for comment.
