Fans of Glee are in for a shock. The show's star, Naya Rivera, recently revealed she had an abortion in her new tell-all memoir, Sorry Not Sorry. Although most women don't talk about abortions, Naya, along with other celebs like Nicki Minaj and Kailyn Lowry, have spoken out about their personal experiences and have shared their stories.
For Naya, once she found out she was pregnant, she drove to Planned Parenthood in a wig, hoodie, and sunglasses to avoid being recognized.
"We paid cash, leaving no paper trail, like it was a drug deal," she wrote. "It was the worst experience of my life. It was incredibly painful — your body is basically in labor with strong, frequent contractions. I was nauseous and kept going in and out of consciousness because of the pain.”
Although she bled for two and a half weeks, she returned to the Glee set anyway to continue work.
"When I got up to work the next day, a little more than 12 hours after having a medical abortion, I had to put my cheerleading uniform back on," she wrote, "and hope that the skimpy bloomers covered the giant pad I was wearing.”
