Sister Wives' Meri Brown Reflects on Challenges of Dating 2 Years After Kody Split: 'Interesting’
Sister Wives star Meri Brown may be open to finding love two years after her split from ex-husband Kody Brown, though she admitted that there are challenges when it comes to dating.
“Dating has been interesting. I’ve been dating, nobody exclusive at this point. It’s a little bit weird,” Meri, 53, told Parade in an interview published on Sunday, January 12. “I live in a small town that has a very, very, very, very small dating pool. So I need to spread my wings. Go to Vegas or Salt Lake [City].”
Not only is Meri willing to try dating in towns outside of her own, but she said that she was open to pursuing romances on dating apps.
“I would love to meet somebody just organically out in public, but I just don’t know how to do that. It’s really hard,” the TLC personality continued. “I hear people say men don’t talk to women anymore. They don’t, you know? So it has to be the woman to take the initiative. And I’m like, I don’t want that. If I have to take the initiative and be [the] boss man, then I’m not interested. The guy needs to do that.”
While Meri admitted that it can be difficult to meet a potential future partner, she did reveal what her ideal first date looks like.
“Fun and laughter and easy conversations. Dinner would be great, [a] movie would be great. Walk in the park would be great. I’m open to options,” she said. “I feel like sitting down and having a conversation limits what you can do. When you’re out and about and you’re doing something, whether it’s just a walk in the park or skiing, I don’t know, whatever, you can kind of interact a little bit more.”
Meri went on to open up about the qualities she’s looking for in a partner, including that they’re “independent.”
“Somebody who can treat me with kindness and honesty and respect, who can meet my energy,” she added of the qualities her ideal partner should have. “Probably tall. I want a tall guy. And also who my dog loves. And he loves my dog.”
Kody, 55, and Meri announced their decision to end their spiritual marriage in January 2023. “We feel compelled to share our own truth, in our own way and in our own timing,” they said in a joint statement at the time. “After more than a decade of working on our relationship in our own unique ways, we have made the decision to permanently terminate our marriage relationship.”

One year after their split, Meri revealed that she was dating Amos Andrews in January 2024. However, the romance didn’t last long and she confirmed their split in February of that year.
“Last week, I had to face some hard truths and have some difficult conversations,” she wrote in an Instagram post at the time. “Just because I care a lot about someone, and him me, does not equate to full compatibility for a long-term relationship. When we have different dreams and aspirations, different communication styles and values, different visions for our futures, and these things aren’t aligning, it’s then that we need to make hard decisions.”
