Selling Sunset alum Mary Bonnet says that starring in the hit Netflix series did not have the payoff that she expected.
“This show actually hurt my real estate business,” Bonnet, 45, told Us Weekly on Thursday, July 9. “I went into Selling Sunset thinking it was going to help — and in the beginning it did.”
According to Bonnet, other agents used her negative plotlines to attempt to sway her clients away from working with her.
“The behavior [became a problem]. Basically what I’ve been told is that other agents would use some of the girls’ behavior against [her] saying, ‘Is this who you want representing you?’ And I was not a part of that,” she explained. “I was trying to stop it but it’s still used against me.”
Bonnet is one of the original stars of the real estate reality series, joining the show during season 1 in 2019. However, Jason Oppenheim‘s right-hand lady stepped away from the cameras ahead of the show’s upcoming 10th season.
“I lost a lot of clients and I lost a lot of deals because of it,” she told the outlet. “Even though I was removed from [the drama] — still impacted my career.”

Being on the show also affected Bonnet’s personal life outside of her career: In January 2025, she and husband Romain Bonnet were the victims of a home burglary while filming season 9. She opened up about the terrifying ordeal on camera, revealing that priceless family heirlooms were stolen.
“I had one thing left from my ex-husband who passed away, like, that was so meaningful, and they took it. It was something we got together in Greece, and it was just something that meant a lot to me then, and it meant a lot to me now,” she shared during an episode, according to The Tab.
