Rosie O’Donnell is looking back on simpler times with eldest daughter Chelsea O’Donnell after Chelsea’s multiple arrests.
The View cohost, 62, took to Instagram on Thursday, December 5, with a throwback selfie featuring Chelsea, 27, and youngest daughter Dakota O’Donnell, who wore a pink crown with her name on it. “Before it began #changes,” Rosie captioned the post.
In addition to Chelsea and Dakota, 11, Rosie is a mom to kids Parker Jaren, 29, Blake Christopher, 25, and Vivienne, 22. She is also a grandmother to Chelsea’s kids, Atlas, 14 months, Avery Lynn, 2, Riley, 3, and Skylar Rose, who will turn 6 years old this month.
The post came after Chelsea was arrested for the third time on November 18 after she was caught with methamphetamine, In Touch exclusively reported on November 26. She was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor resisting an officer and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
The mom of four also received a felony charge for possession of Hydrocodone, a misdemeanor charge for possessing Lamotrigine and two felonies for not following the terms of her probation in two separate criminal cases.
Chelsea was a passenger in a car pulled over by the Niagara Police Department in Wisconsin, according to the police report for the November 18 arrest obtained by In Touch. After running her name, the officers found that Chelsea was out on bail.
Chelsea was found with a “clear smoking device” and placed under arrest. She became “argumentative” and did not want to put her hands behind her back.

Chelsea later told officers in questioning that she had been working to get off drugs. She said she was set to begin an intensive outpatient program the following week.
Chelsea’s bond was set at $7,500 at a hearing on November 25. She appeared in court again on Monday, December 2, but she was still in custody, according to court minutes.
Rosie’s eldest daughter was previously arrested on September 10 on drug and child neglect charges. Chelsea called the police to her and boyfriend Jacob Nelund’s home, where officers found a meth pipe and meth on Chelsea. Additionally, they found that baby Atlas was inside the home filled with drugs and garbage.
“The inside of the home was disgusting; throughout the house I saw rotten food, dirty moldy dishes, milk that stunk so bad it almost made me puke, dirty diapers, used female hygiene products, unclean underwear with feces and blood stains and used razor blades on the floor,” a police report obtained by In Touch read.
Chelsea pleaded not guilty to four felony counts of maintaining a drug trafficking place, child neglect, possession of methamphetamine and possession of THC. She was released on a $2,000 bond on September 24.
Chelsea was later arrested for the second time for possession of meth on October 11 after being pulled over while driving around town. The police accused Chelsea of trying to throw a meth pipe in a river during questioning, but it bounced back after hitting a fence. She was released on bond in early November and ordered not to use drugs or drink.
On November 26, Chelsea pleaded not guilty to charges related to her first arrest. She is set to appear in court again on January 27, 2025.
“Sadly, this is not new for our family – Chelsea has struggled with drug addiction for a decade – we are all hopeful she will find her way out of this deadly disease,” the O’Donnell family said in a statement to In Touch after Chelsea’s second arrest.
