Prince Harry And Prince William Will Reportedly Split Into Two Separate Royal Courts
A royal split? Now that Prince Harry and Prince William are older and married with families of their own, it would make sense that the brothers would eventually separate themselves into their own royal courts. Now, according to a new report by the UK Sunday Times, that separation might come sooner than later.
“The brothers have leaned on each other and looked after each other since their mother died. But now they have their own families, they no longer rely on each other as before,” a royal insider revealed to the Sunday Times.
Prince Harry, 34, and Prince William, 36, are reportedly considering to formally divide their joint royal household into two separate households, which is currently based at Kensington Palace. This separation would create two new royal courts: one for the Duke of Cambridge and one for the Duke of Sussex. Each court would reflect the difference in their responsibilities as it pertains to the royal succession.
Since Prince William is second in line to the throne, he would have to start preparing to become the next Prince of Wales since he would be next in line after his father, Prince Charles. Meanwhile, Prince Harry is sixth in line to the throne — behind his niece and nephews Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis — and he would likely assume a more visible role as a royal ambassador.
The separation of Prince Harry and Prince William’s royal court would most likely take place sometime next year after Prince Harry’s wife, Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle, gives birth to their first child in the spring, according to the source. Prince Harry and Meghan are expected to move out of the two-bedroom Nottingham Cottage on the Kensington Palace grounds and either into Kensington Palace with Prince William and his wife Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton or find another royal residence to live.
But even if Prince William and Prince Harry do become neighbors at Kensington Palace, they would still likely consider splitting their households.
“When William becomes the Prince of Wales, he will take on a lot of extra responsibility, including the Duchy of Cornwall and all that entails. Harry and Meghan have none of that, and seem ambitious about forging their own paths,” the insider said. “They have become different people with different outlooks on life. Splitting the household is the obvious thing to do.”
