He’s got his friend’s back! Earlier this week, comedian Kevin Hart was forced to step down as the host of the 2019 Oscars host and give up such a prestigious opportunity because of some resurfaced homophobic tweets from his past that came to light. But now, Kevin’s friend and fellow comedian Nick Cannon came to his defense by digging up old tweets from white female comics Amy Schumer, Sarah Silverman, and Chelsea Handler with homophobic slurs.

“Interesting, I wonder if there was any backlash here…” Nick, 38, wrote on Twitter as he retweeted a 2010 tweet from Chelsea that read: “This is what a f-g bird likes like when he flexes.”

“And I f–king love Wreck-It Ralph!!!” Nick tweeted as he retweeted a 2010 tweet from Sarah that read: “I don’t mean this in a hateful way but the new Bachelorette’s a f—-t.”

“I’m just saying… should we keep going???” Nick wrote in aĀ retweet from Amy’s 2012 tweet that read: “Enjoy Skyfall f-gs. I’m ’bout to get knee deep in Helen Hunt #thesessions.”

Kevin’s past homophobic tweets and comment resurfaced shortly after it was announced that he would be the host of the upcoming 91st Academy Awards. During his 2010 comedy special, Seriously Funny, he said that one of his “biggest fears” is his son being gay, according to People.

Shortly after the controversy surfaced, the 39-year-old took to Twitter to announce that he is stepping down from the hosting gig and he also apologized for his past actions.

“I have made the choice to step down from hosting this year’s Oscar’s….this is because I do not want to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many amazing talented artists. I sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past,” Kevin tweeted. “I’m sorry that I hurt people… I am evolving and want to continue to do so. My goal is to bring people together not tear us apart. Much love [and] appreciation to the Academy. I hope we can meet again.”
