It’s been more than 100 days since Savannah Guthrie‘s mom, Nancy Guthrie, was abducted from her home, and Lauren Serpa, a longtime friend of Nancy’s, is worried that interest in the case is starting to wane.

“People are starting to move on basically. That’s what happens when it doesn’t affect their lives,” Serpa told Page Six in an interview published on Tuesday, May 12. “So that’s why I’m trying to keep it in the forefront as much as possible.”

She added that Nancy’s Tucson, Arizona, community is still “very supportive,” but even local interest is “starting to fizzle out.”

“I don’t want that to happen,” Serpa continued. “It’s been 100 days, and people are starting not to forget, but not to think about it as much.”

She went on to urge those in the area specifically to continue to keep Nancy, 84, in the forefront of their minds in case they see something that could end up being crucial to the case.

“It’s really important that it’s in the back of their head all the time in case they do see something or they hear somebody say something, you know, out of their eyesight,” Serpa explained to the outlet. “Then they can report it. But, you know, if they’re not thinking about it, then they wouldn’t even think about anything that somebody would say.”

Nancy was last seen on January 31 when she was dropped off at her home by her daughter, Annie Guthrie, and son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni. A friend alerted the family when she failed to show up for a streaming church service the following morning.

There have been few major developments in the case, but Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos recently said that officials were closer to solving the mystery.

However, as In Touch previously reported, NewsNation’s Brian Entin questioned the truth behind Nanos’ claim.

“I don’t get the sense from my sources that they are getting much closer,” Entin said during the Monday, May 11, episode of Brian Entin Investigates. “It’s not a cold case, but it’s just interesting that the sheriff said that they’re getting closer. That’s not exactly what I’m hearing from my sources.”

People with any information regarding the case are asked to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324). You may also contact your local FBI office, the nearest American Embassy or Consulate, or you can submit a tip online at tips.fbi.gov.
