Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid have finally buried the hatchet, reveals a source, who says their son Jack Quaid “deserves a lot of credit” for getting his parents to make peace with each other.
“Dennis and Meg had been known to have an extremely chilly relationship post-divorce, with not a lot changing over the last 25 years,” In Touch’s source admits. “It was a nasty split and the resentment between them was always real and present.”
Weddings have a way of bringing people together, though.
According to The Daily Telegraph, Meg, 64, and Dennis, 72, were both in attendance when Jack, 34, tied the knot with The Boys costar Claudia Doumit at Mona Farm in Briarwood, Australia, on Saturday, April 18.
The exes are “back on speaking terms again,” reveals the source, “and if and when they become grandparents in the next few years, they’re able to sit down and be civil to one another.”

That might have “seemed impossible just a few years ago,” In Touch’s source notes.
When Meg and Dennis separated in 2000, her affair with Proof of Life costar Russell Crowe made headlines. “But what wasn’t in the story was the reality of my marriage for nine years,” she later told In Style, per Today. “Dennis was not faithful to me for a long time, and that was very painful. I found out more about that once I was divorced.”
Friends and business associates “had to pick a side,” the source recalls, while Jack wound up “caught in the middle” of their divorce, which was finalized in 2001.
However, the Scream star “never gave up on the idea that his parents could put the past behind them and reach a new level of understanding,” adds the source. “It took a while, but his disciplined, even-handed approach to dealing with both of them has finally paid off, right as he’s ready to start a family of his own!”
