Mandy Moore has clapped back at critics after she received backlash for requesting donations for her relatives, whose homes were lost in the Los Angeles wildfires.

The This Is Us star, 40, took to Instagram on Thursday, January 9, to share a screenshot of a GoFundMe page for her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, called “Help the Goldsmiths Rebuild After Devastating Fire Loss.” The page asked for $60,000 in donations and featured a photo of the couple.

“Yesterday, my brother-in-law and sister-in-law Griff & Kit lost their home and everything they own in the Eaton Fire. With their first baby on the way in a matter of weeks, they need our support now more than ever,” Mandy captioned the post. “Griff is a touring musician and also lost his entire arsenal of drums/percussion he uses to make a living.”

She continued, “It’s all so much. So many have asked how to help during this unimaginable and stressful time … Please consider donating and sharing to help them rebuild. link in bio and all the love.”

After receiving some criticism for the post, Mandy added a note in the caption hitting back at haters.

“And people questioning whether we’re helping out our own family or attributing some arbitrary amount of money Google says someone has is NOT helpful or empathetic,” she continued. “Of course we are. Our buddy Matt started this GoFundMe and I’m sharing because people have asked how they can help them. We just lost most of our life in a fire too. Kindly F OFF. No one is forcing you to do anything.”

Mandy has since turned the comments off on the post.

On her Instagram Stories, the “Crush” singer added another message for Kit and Griff.

“My brother-in-law and sister-in-law are due with their sweet baby boy (their first baby) in a few weeks and lost everything. Today was supposed to be her baby shower. Love you, Kit and Griff,” she wrote.

In addition to sharing their GoFundMe page, Mandy shared pages for several other families on her Stories, as well as links to various fire resources and other places to donate.

Mandy shared on Wednesday, January 8, that she and her family were evacuating their home in Altadena, California. The following day, the actress was able to return to her neighborhood, where she found that much of her home had been destroyed by the wildfires.

“We were able to park and walk up our street to bear witness to all the loss. Miraculously, the main part of our house is still standing. For now. It’s not livable but mostly intact,” she shared in an Instagram post. “We lost Taylor and Griffin’s studio with every instrument and piece of equipment they’ve ever owned. We lost our garage and back house.”

Mandy continued, “Everyone we know lost everything. Every house on our street is gone. My in-laws. My brother and sister-in-law — 6 weeks from welcoming their first baby. Our best friends. Feeling weird survivors’ guilt. We love this community and will do everything we can to help rebuild and support. Thanks for everyone for checking on us and offering us help. Altadena strong.”
