More than three decades after Lorena Bobbitt was charged with cutting off her then-husband John Bobbitt‘s manhood, she’s living a quiet life in Virginia with her longtime partner, Dave Bellinger.
In new photos obtained by the Daily Mail and published on Thursday, July 9, Bellinger, 56, was dressed casually in a black T-shirt, red basketball shorts and black sneakers.
Lorena, who goes by Lorena Gallo now, was photographed separately. She was sporting a black tank top and patterned leggings that she paired with purple high-top sneakers while walking a small white dog.
Bellinger and Lorena, also 56, met at community college in the late ’90s, according to the outlet. While the two have been together for more than 20 years and share a daughter, they’ve never officially tied the knot.
Lorena became a household name in 1993 when she severed John’s genitals after claiming he had sexually abused her for years. (He denied the allegations.) She was charged with malicious wounding at the time, but she was later found not guilty by reason of temporary insanity. John was acquitted of marital sexual assault the following year.

Despite the incident occurring decades ago, the Daily Mail reported that her neighbors still associate her with the infamous crime.
“It’s fun to talk about,” Lorena’s neighbor, Amelia Stern, told the publication. “You can always start a conversation by saying, ‘Guess who lives on my block?’ The guys in the neighborhood have the most fun with it.”
She continued, “I guess she seems nice enough, but let’s just say that I’m not worried about her seducing my husband. He’s afraid of her.”
After the case, John continued to make headlines over the years through media appearances and a career in adult films. He also faced additional legal troubles, including a misdemeanor a 1994 misdemeanor battery conviction involving a girlfriend and a 2002 domestic battery case involving his third wife. He was later acquitted.
