Joseph Duggar‘s wife, Kendra Duggar, has reportedly cut off communication with her immediate family in the wake of her husband’s criminal case.
Kendra, 27, is the eldest of nine children born to Paul and Christina Caldwell. It’s been two months since her husband Joseph was arrested and charged with lewd and lascivious behavior involving molestation of a victim less than 12 years old and lewd and lascivious behavior conducted by a person 18 years or older. He has pleaded not guilty.
Now, according to a report published on Wednesday, May 19, Kendra is “not communicating with her family,” an insider claimed to Us Weekly.
The reported estrangement comes during what the source described as an “extremely stressful” time for the Caldwell family. According to the insider, they have “left” the Arkansas home where they had been living and “all of their belongings are in storage.”
The source also alleged Kendra’s father has lost his job since Joseph’s scandal broke.
“Relocating is always difficult, especially with a large family and the stress they are under,” the source told the outlet. “They are considering a move out of state. Paul is looking for work to support the family because he had to leave his job.”

Last month, Paul launched a GoFundMe to cover relocation costs that he stressed would “not” be used for legal costs. So far, the family has received over $35,000 in donations.
In addition to Kendra, Paul and Christina share Lauren, Micah, Nathan, Timothy, Olivia, Jesiah, Isaiah and Moriah. After Joseph’s arrest made headlines, Kendra’s parents released a statement that they were “troubled” and “heartbroken” by the allegations.
Kendra is facing legal issues of her own. Shortly after Joseph’s arrest, both he and Kendra were charged with endangering the welfare of a minor and second-degree imprisonment. At the time, a source told People the charges related to a “home inspection, and the door locks being on the exterior of the doors.”
Kendra was initially placed under a no-contact order involving her children, though a judge lifted that order last month. She and Joseph have pleaded not guilty to the welfare and imprisonment charges and are expected to return to court in August.
Meanwhile, Joseph, 31, remains behind bars and is barred from having contact with minors, including the couple’s four children. He’s since asked the court to reconsider.
As In Touch previously reported, Joseph is accused of sexually abusing a minor during a 2020 family trip to Panama City Beach.
Joseph’s brother Josh Duggar is currently serving prison time for receiving and possessing child sexual abuse materials. In Touch was the first to break the news of his underage sexual molestation scandal in 2015.
