Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom’s Alleged 2024 ‘Spat’ Revealed as Her Team Tries to Block His Testimony

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom’s alleged 2024 “spat” was revealed as part of the pop star’s court battle as her team tries to prevent the actor from testifying, In Touch can exclusively report.

The singer, 40, has been fighting with an 85-year-old disabled veteran named Carl Westcott for years. Carl sued Katy’s business manager, Bernie Gudvi, in 2020.

Carl, who founded 1-800-Flowers, claimed he mistakenly sold Bernie, on behalf of Katy, his Santa Barbara, California, home.

In court, Carl claimed he made the deal while heavily medicated following a surgery.

In court, Carl said he tried to back out of the $15 million sale, but Katy’s team refused. The first phase of the trial went down in November 2023.

The court found the deal to be enforceable despite Carl’s attempts to undo the sale.

Carl was forced to turn over the keys to the home to Katy, who allegedly moved in last summer.

The parties are preparing for phase two of the trial, where Katy is expected to testify in court. The amount in damages that Carl owes will be determined in phase two.

Recently, Carl’s team fired off a subpoena for Katy’s longtime partner, Orlando, 48, to testify at the trial.

In a letter Carl’s lawyer wrote to Bernie’s team, filed in court, Carl laid out the reasons why Orlando should testify.

His lawyer explained that Carl’s house manager, Russell Dustman, was deposed by Bernie’s team. At his deposition, Russell said Orlando had visited the home on April 9 and April 10, 2024, before the title was transferred.

He said Orlando was with a team of contractors for various inspections. Russell claimed Orlando said he would be handling the repairs and construction work at the house on behalf of Katy.

His lawyer wrote, “It is clear that [Orlando] is so closely aligned with [Katy], and that he supervising repairs, such that he is a material witness to the scope of repairs and to the scope of all other work being done or contemplated at the house.”

Carl’s lawyer added, “Both [Katy] and [Orlando] are therefore key eyewitnesses with personal knowledge as to the scope of work, construction plans, and construction costs.”

As In Touch first reported, this month, Bernie demanded Orlando not be forced to testify in the case.

He claimed Orlando had no information relevant to the case. Bernie said he expected Katy to be subpoenaed to testify in the case but was taken aback by Orlando being dragged into the drama.

He claimed the subpoena issued to Orlando was meant to violate the actor’s privacy, disrupt Katy’s family, harass him and “further sensationalize this straightforward property dispute and damage calculation.”

Bernie said Carl’s sole reason for dragging Orlando into the case was testimony Carl’s house manager gave at his deposition. In his motion, Bernie cast doubt on the testimony given by the house manager.

“The entire testimony of [Russell] is subject to suspicion because he testified that he received $15,000 from the Westcott family as compensation for assistant in this litigation.” Bernie argued that at his deposition, Russell “conceded that he knew nothing about what was done to the property and then conceded that all his testimony was based on speculation.”

As part of Bernie’s motion to prevent Orlando from testifying, one of his exhibits was a portion of Russell’s deposition transcript.

At his deposition, taken on June 18, 2024, Bernie’s lawyer grilled Russell about the case. Russell was asked, “During these inspections that happened in 2024, did you see Katy Perry at all?”

The house manager replied, “No.” When asked if he saw Orlando Bloom, Russell said, “yes.”

Bernie’s lawyer asked, “Did he tell you what his role, if any, was with respect to the house? Was he in charge of it, or why was he there, to the best of your knowledge?”

Russell replied, “Yes. After about the second meeting with him towards the end just before the closing, he and Katy apparently got into a bit of a spat.”

He added, “And she sort of relinquished herself from wanting anything to do with the house. She had just had it. And she turned the responsibility of that over to Orlando. And Orlando said, Well, I’m not the person who is going to be making the decisions on this. And he told that to me direct, face-to-face.”

The judge has yet to rule on Orlando having to testify in the case.

As In Touch first reported, phase two of the trial was scheduled for February 25 but was postponed due to Carl’s lawyer getting sick. A new trial date will be selected at a hearing on February 10.

The court proposed trial dates in the ranges of May 19 – June 20, sometime in July or August 1 – August 29. Katy starts a tour across North America in May and runs through the end of August, which may result in her having to testify in the middle of the tour.
