Wondering Where ‘Sister Wives’ Star Garrison Brown Has Been? The 19-Year-Old Had a Happy Homecoming!

The Season 7 premiere of Sister Wives featured a Brown family reunion, as patriarch Kody Brown welcomed his son Robert Garrison Brown — or just Garrison, as his fam calls him — home with a celebratory barbecue. But some viewers were confused as to where the now-19-year-old had been.

If you watched previous seasons of the TLC hit, you’ll recall that Garrison — the fourth child of Kody and wife Janelle Brown — argued with his parents over his military ambitions. “After basic training, I’ll start going to college while doing recruit training,” he told the duo, elaborating, “The benefits of the National Guard is [that they’ll] help pay for my college while I’m serving."

But Kody and Janelle both wanted him to get his college degree before enlisting. “College was never really on his radar,” the dad-of-18 told viewers. “College is on our radar, and Garrison has had military on his radar. Him going in the National Guard and then getting the education money and stuff like that is really a compromise for both of us.”

Garrison’s parents were worried he wasn’t thinking the important decision through. “He’s 17, and he thinks he’s invincible,” Janelle explained. “At 17, you don’t comprehend that you actually could get shot at, and those bullets might actually hit you.” Kody added, “That’s not the optimistic line. But that is the reality that we have to understand: that being in the military is a sacrifice.”

Nevertheless, in November 2015, Garrison enlisted in the National Guard, and left for basic training in July 2016. He finished two months later, and it looks like he’s making good on his promise to receive a degree. On his Facebook profile, he wrote that he’s studying “bada– stuff” at the College of Southern Nevada. (Sounds like an interesting major!)
