Fans Rally Behind Drake After His Dad Accuses Him of Faking Feud to Sell Albums: ‘Drake Ain’t Lying’

They aren’t buying it! After Drake’s father, Dennis Graham, accused the rapper of writing phony song lyrics about their relationship to “sell records,” fans have rallied behind the 32-year-old. Many took to Twitter to defend the singer following Dennis’ accusations on Nick Cannon’s Close Conversations radio show on Tuesday, October 8.

“Y’all know Drake ain’t lying. He don’t even talk about his dad that much in [his] songs to be saying ‘it sells records.’ Why is he doing interviews anyway?? Girl,” one fan wrote on Twitter. Another chimed in writing, “Drake’s dad really went on a radio show and said that about him SMH. No dad puts u [sic] on blast like that unless they want something.”

Some users noted that Drake’s father lived far from his son, making it hard for the two to connect. “Is Drake really lying though by saying his dad wasn’t there for him if he lived in Canada while his father lived in Memphis? Phone calls are nice, but that’s not really ‘being there,’” a fan tweeted.

Drake himself took to Instagram to tackle his father’s accusations. “Woke up today so hurt, man. My father will say anything to anyone that’s willing to listen to him. It’s sad when family gets like this, but what can we really do? That’s the people we are stuck with … every bar I ever spit was the truth and the truth is hard for some people to accept,” the singer wrote on his Instagram Story.

During the jaw-dropping interview, Dennis addressed how his son speaks of their strained relationship through his music, but according to Dennis, Drake’s lyrics stretch the truth. “I have always been with Drake,” Dennis said to Nick, 39. “I said, ‘Drake why are you saying all of this different stuff about me, man? This is not cool.’ And he goes ‘Dad, it sells records.'”

Dennis felt he did his job as a father and showed him the best and worst parts of life. “I took Drake down through there so to speak,” Graham added. “I exposed him to every aspect of life. I never hid anything from him … I showed him this side of life. I showed him that side of life.” Do you think these two will ever reconcile?
